With the polar vortex freezing people out all over the Midwest and east coast, here in the Bay Area we’re remarkably lucky when it comes to the weather.
As amazing as our winters are, care still needs to be taken to prepare properly, especially for early or late rides. Any time the temperature drops below 60 F it’s crucial to cover your knees. The tendons can be damaged much more easily when it’s cold and nothing puts a damper on riding like an injury does.
What are your options? There’s a lot to choose from. Tights and knickers are the easy options; they come in a variety of thicknesses to accommodate everything from the high 50 to sub-zero temps. Another choice is knee or leg warmers. These also come in varying thicknesses and allow you to use the shorts that you already own. Additionally, they can be removed and stashed in a pocket when the temperature climbs higher or carried along in case it gets chilly while you’re out.
With all of the options out there, it can be tricky to find exactly what you need. Stop by and check out our selection of cold weather gear and bring the questions to us!
